SEO stands for search engine optimization, and it basically helps the search engines to better find your website. There are two types of SEO; on page optimization, and off-page optimization.

On-page optimization focuses on the content and structure of your website. It is important that you learn some of these strategies even before you build your website. Doing so will save you a lot of time and money in the end, because the search engines will send you free traffic, and so you won't have to spend as much time or money for marketing.

So what exactly is on-page optimization?

On-page optimization basically places relevant keywords on your webpages where the search engines will place the highest value on them. The search engines read your webpage from left to right, top to bottom. So the keywords which are placed at the top of your website are more valuable to them than the ones placed on the bottom.

As a matter of fact, after about 200 words into your content, the search engines will place little or no value on any keywords listed after. So you want to make sure that you get them in within the first 200 words.

The search engines also place a lot of emphasis on the title tag. This is actually the most important place to put your keywords. But, don't add too many to the title as the value decreases with each keyword in the title. So keep the title short, adding one or two keywords at the most for optimum results.

Again keep it short; 30 words or less is all that is needed for this area.

The meta keyword tags are not that important as they used to be, simply because webmasters were abusing these. Never list any keywords here that are not in your content, and never repeat one keyword more than three times for one page. You can use single keywords, or keyword phrases.

The URL is another great place to stick your keywords into. And again, you want to keep it focused on one or two keywords at most.

Social Media is a great way to get free traffic coming to your website. Not only do you get free traffic from the social media sites, but the free traffic coming from the search engines will also increase. This is because a lot of these social media links will count as quality back links. The more back links you have pointing to your website the higher you will rank in the search engines.

Think of Social Media as an actual social event, where you can go and hang out with other people. The more you hang out with them, the popular you will become.

Visit other people's profiles and then subscribe, or request to be friends. People who aren't interested will simply ignore you, and those who are interested will accept your invitation and come and visit your site. How To Re-Write Your Web Content Into Articles

Every time you create a new webpage you should build some back links to it. A great way to do this is to re-write your content into several smaller articles, which you can then submit to article directories.

Depending on how long your webpage is, you can get several good articles from the content on each page. Depending on the topic I can write about 3-5 articles from a thousand word article which I used on my webpage without repeating any information.

What I do is I break the 1,000 word article into smaller portions, or subheadings. Then I simply re-write. It's that simple.

When I write the content for my webpage, I usually make an outline first. I then use this outline, or the subheadings in my main article for my smaller articles which I submit to article directories.

You can also use these articles for your blog posts.

Now there is no limit as to how many times you can rewrite the same information. Thus the number of back links which you can build is limitless.

How To Improve Your Writing Skills

You can read all the books on writing, but unless you put into practice what you learned, you will not improve your writing skills. As a matter of fact the only way you will improve your writing is if you write every day, or at least on a regular basis.

When you write, don't worry about what your writing sounds like, just write. This is the most important part, that you just write. You can always go back and edit later. Many new writers tend to get stuck on a paragraph, or sentence, and because of this they don't make it very far into the article. Don't let this happen to you.

The best thing to do is gather your information, and put it in front of you in point form. Get a mental picture in your head as to what your finished article, or manuscript will look like.

Then begin your writing session. If you have a timer set it for about 10 minutes, and then use those 10 minutes just to write. Don't go back and edit during this time, but focus your attention on getting the words out. If you don't have a timer, you can use a clock.

When the 10 minutes are up, go back and edit what you just wrote. Then simply repeat the process until your article is completed. If you need to walk away at any point, do so. Everyone at one time or another will experience blank moments where there seems to be nothing to write about. Don't try and force it; believe me, it comes out in your writing and your readers will know it. So the best thing to do is just walk away.

At this time you can do two things; one is to meditate on what you want to write about, and the other is to read. Both are effective in helping you get back on track to finishing your article.

If you want to be a successful writer, then reading is an absolute must! This is where you will draw a lot of your inspiration from. This does not mean that you will be copying other writers; it just means that by reading other people's writing you will be inspired to write your own. Plus, there is a lot you can learn about writing, just by reading the work of other writers.

Then once you have written and edited your article, you have to put it out so others can read it. After all, this is the whole point of writing.

The staff at EzineArticles has been working hard to make EzineArticles a better online article directory. It used to take up to 48 to have your articles approved, but now they have set the limit to 24 business hours. But they are much quicker than that; I had an article approved the other in a few hours...I think about 3-4 hours after I submitted the article it was approved. That is absolutely fantastic!

They also made another change which I really like. In the past, if we wanted to edit an article it would not be live until it was approved again. But now, the old article remains live until the new changes are approved and then the old article is replaced with the new. Another major improvement!

Last but not least, for those who are participating in the HAHD challenge, they can now see their progress along the left side of the account. This takes the guessing out as to how many articles are written, and one can see at a glance how much further we got to go.

Learning Basic HTML

There are many programs available today which will help webmasters to upload and create their webpages without having to know any HTML. Blogging platforms have a built in 'what you see is what you get' (wysiwyg) editor making it easy for anyone to create a professional looking blog.

But, even though these programs are excellent in what they do, it is still necessary for every webmaster or blogger to know at least the basics of HTML. The reason I say this is because by knowing the basics you will be able to better optimize your site for the search engines so they can send you more targeted traffic, plus it will make your whole online experience much easier, and much more enjoyable. You won't have to go running every time you see a little snippet of coding.

By learning the basics of HTML you will be able to create your own anchor text links, name your pictures within the codes, and just move stuff around to anywhere you want, just by using a simple code.

Also if you are into affiliate marketing you definitely should learn the basics of HTML, because sometimes it is nice to be able to make minor changes to the affiliate code used to promote the product. Sometimes you may only want a text link, but when the company does not provide you with just a text link you need to know what part of the code you need.

Some of the things every webmaster or blogger should know about html is what the title tag is, how to make an anchor link, or a text link, basic formatting, and how to name the pictures within the code.

Spreadsheets are an absolute must for every internet marketer, or business owner. If you are not familiar with them, then you should familiarize yourself with Google Spreadsheets. These sheets can be accessed from your Google account, and are 100% free, safe and secure, and very easy to use. Plus you can access them from anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection.

If you are new to online marketing, a spreadsheet may seem like a waste of time to you, but as you start building your webpages, and websites you will begin to see the importance of keeping all information stored neatly in one file, a several files. So I recommend you start off by keeping all your information neatly organized in order to avoid having to clean up a huge mess later.

You need to keep track of domain names, and if you are writing for online writing platform such as Hubpages, or Squidoo, you need to keep track of all these URLs as well. You also need to keep track of all the pages within your websites.

The reason you want to do this is because you will want to continue to build more and more back links to these pages, and if you have them all stored away neatly in one file, you will not have to dig through your site every time you want to create a simple back link.

You should also keep track of all articles which you may be writing and submitting to article directories.

You can create multiple spreadsheets in one main sheet to have all your information from one domain, or from one niche all in one main spreadsheet file.

Once you get going in internet marketing you will soon discover that you have registered with more sites, such as social networking sites, bookmarking sites, affiliate networks, and created more usernames and passwords than you can remember. Spreadsheets are an excellent tool to keep track of all this information.

Setting Up A Gmail Account

Gmail is short for Google mail, and by setting up a free account you are setting yourself up for a lot more than just a Gmail Account. With Gmail you can send e-mails, add contacts, and chat.

Google has a lot of free tools and products designed especially for the online marketer, and the good thing about Gmail is that you can quickly and easily log into all your accounts with one single log in. Now depending on how many tools you use from Google, this will save you a lot of headaches and a lot of time as well.

Everything can be kept neatly in one place making it extremely easy to access your documents or other tools or programs which you might use.

If making money online is one of your goals, or even if you're already making money, you'll find that using the Google tools is much easier than any other program. There are some programs which are obviously not as great as if you were to purchase them from another company, but nevertheless, Google is a great place to start.

Some of these tools which are not as great are the PDF creator, I prefer open office; and Google docs also do not have all the features which Microsoft Word does. But I use Google docs because opening a new file is just so much easier than with Word, plus I can see all the files names and folders before I even open.

But the keyword research tool is fantastic, and I would never consider switching to another, I also love Analytics, Webmaster tools, Google reader, Blogger, and so many others.

What I like most is that I can keep all my spreadsheets, documents, calenders and daily tasks all in one convenient place. I don't need to open three different programs which will only slow my computer down.

Google also makes it extremely easy for file sharing; you decide who gets to see your files and you can share documents, pictures, and even your calender. Plus none of the files which you create are stored on your computer, which allows you to access your files from any computer around the world.

So if you don't have a Gmail account yet, I would encourage you to check it out and at least give it a try. All you do is go to google.com and in the top left-hand corner you should see a link which says Gmail; this link will take you directly to a page where you can either log in, or sign up for your free account.

Using Google Docs

Google has many different products which they offer to the public absolutely for free, and Google Docs is one of them. This is basically a 3-in-1 replacement for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. If you have those programs and even if you like them, you still might want to give Google Docs a try for various reasons. And if you don't have those programs, then Google Docs is definitely something you want to take a look at.

With Google docs you can create documents similar to Word Documents, and you even get the help of a spell-checker, a word count, and all the tools to format your text, line spacing and more. You can easily insert images, comments, footnotes, headers, tables, links, and a table of contents.

You can also create spreadsheets which are a must for every internet marketer or business owner to keep track of their business information. What I really like about the Google spreadsheets is that you can create multiple sheets within one main sheet. This makes it extremely easy to keep all your information neatly stored in one file.

Google Docs also allows you to create presentations similar to what you can create with PowerPoint. You have easy access to all kinds of templates and forms to create resumes, schedules, invoices, and calendars to keep track of your events.

Google also allows you to easily collaborate your work with your employees or co-workers. You decide who has access to the files and who can edit your files. You can also see who has made any changes, when the changes were made, and you decide whether you will go with the changes or not.

When you are finished with your documents you can leave them where they are in your Google account, or you can download them as a regular file, text, Word, Excel, HTML, CSS, OpenOffice, or as a PDF file. Each program will give you slightly different options as to what kind of file you can download it as.

The best thing about Google Docs is that you can keep all your files neatly organized in one place; all your documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, and open them all from on location.

I was expecting a regular sized mug, but was surprised to find that it is a large mug...it can hold two cups of coffee.

I am very glad to have participated in the EzineArticles writing challenge. This mug is well worth the effort I put forth to write those articles, not to mention the free traffic I received from them.

So what are your goals for the new year?

I spent some time on New Years Eve to go over some of the goals I want to accomplish this year. And my ultimate goal for this year is to be able to make a good living online. I'm already making money, but not enough to live on.

I don't have a job besides my online business so I should have no excuse not to succeed as I will have all the time in the world. Right?

So my main goal is to get lots of traffic to my sites. One way I will accomplish that is by writing lots of articles and making regular updates to my sites. I also want to start blogging on a regular basis.

I also want to eat as healthy as I can so that I will have lots of energy to accomplish all my goals. I have discovered that by avoiding junk food I have a lot more energy, and I eat less! Imagine that, avoid junk food and save money on groceries!

If you are an artist...any kind of artist; then you have the ability to make a living by doing what you love.

Perhaps you enjoy painting, woodworking, sculpting, pottery, sewing, needlecrafting, or any other kind of craft; if so, then you can sell those items for a profit online, and it doesn't have to cost you anything to get started.

Sites like eBay and Etsy will allow you to sell anything you can craft, or create. EBay is a more commercial site, but Etsy is very strict on the fact that it has to be hand-made, and cannot be produced in large quantities.

But if you have something which you enjoy, you'll be efficient enough to make a pile of money selling your handmade goods. If you're not that efficient yet, you will get there with more practice.

More and more people are taking part in this new venture, where people are looking for greener ways to shop, and to help preserve the environment. If enough people take part in this venture the industrialized world may wake up and start producing things in a greener fashion as well.

Are you ready for 2010?

2009 has almost come to an end, and in 8 days we will be ushering in the new year 2010. But what does 2010 hold for the internet marketers...with all the changes coming it makes one wonder, will it be a year of growth, or a year of set-backs.

Personally I believe it will be a year of growth for those who are willing to make changes to the way they do business online.

The new rules of the FTC have already kicked in and every affiliate relationship needs to be disclosed, and testimonials need to be real. Those who do not adhere to these new rules will be taken to court.

Then there is Google coming out with personalized search and caffeine. Many are asking will this be the end of SEO? How will the now SEO dominating websites stay on top with the new changes. I don't have an answer, but I'm sure those who have quality content won't be affected much; as a matter of fact these sites might even see a jump in their numbers.

And as always, those who are too lazy to produce good content will find a way to get around it. Then they will most likely record their methods and create a course and make a pretty buck as a result of the new changes.

So my take on the new year is a positive one thus far...we just need to continue learning, work hard, and accept the new changes and we shall prosper.

So are you ready for 2010? You can be, all you need is a positive mind-set.

I just read an article entitled "8 Ways To Make Some Xmas Money-Fast" and while the tips are good, the average person might only be able to actually use half the tips to make a few extra bucks.

For example, I live in a small town, and for me to rent out a room is next to impossible. About a year ago I placed several ads in the paper...and nothing, I put up flyers everywhere around town...still nothing. Then I noticed that several others were trying to do the same thing without any luck; people were looking for room-mates, to rent out a room, to share a house...and I would see the same ads appear week after week after week...

And entering contests...well I'm just not a gambler...

Now I'm not trying to down the article, I'm already doing several things which the article recommends and they really do work great! Like getting rid of stuff which you no longer need...not that I have much...but it works when you do have stuff! Selling your stock photos, or your skills...great idea!

Now those are great ideas for fast cash, but what about the long run? If we can find a way to make lots of money all the time, we won't have a need for fast cash...right?

So what else can you do? Well I'm an artist and I sell my finished designs online, it's a great way to earn extra money by doing what you love.

If you love to write you can write for sites like Hubpages.com, RedGage.com, and Squidoo, and you get paid. Now this will take a while for you to make any money, but it is a residual income which will continue to pay even when you stop writing.

Set up a blog and start blogging about your favorite things to do, and in the process refer others to books which you may have read, or want to read. Amazon and EBay have great affiliate programs for you to join and start making money.

Write an e-book sharing your tips and strategies on a specific topic, people are hungry for information these days and will read just about anything they can get their hands on.

My computer had been running extremely slow for quite some time. I basically tried everything to make it go faster, but nothing seemed to work. I even tried free registry cleaners but they didn't work either.

When I began learning about making money online I wasn't sure if it was for real. Everyone around me seemed so negative about it and so I was hesitant when it came to investing into a hosting account or domain name.

I set up blogs, and a few free websites and then when I was convinced that making money online was for real I purchased my very own domain and hosting account.

I didn't delete the free blogs or sites, instead I used them to drive traffic to my new site. So really I didn't waste any time by creating the free sites, and am still using them today.

A Blog Or A Website?

If you are new to online marketing then you are probably wondering whether you should start a blog or a website. The truth is, it really does not matter which one you start with, because your end goal should be to have multiple websites and blogs.

Why? Because you will need to build backlinks to your site in order to rank high in the search engines. The more backlinks that you have the better your site will do. Now you should try and get some backlinks from other high ranking websites, but you cannot solely depend on other people to link back to your site, you also have to do your own hard work.

The New FTC Rules

There is much confusion going on regarding the new FTC rules. They are not very specific as to what is expected of bloggers and affiliate marketers.

I took the time to read the 81 page pdf file, but many questions were still left unanswered. I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to put a little not beside each affiliate link stating that it is such, or if I can simply create a disclosure page and list my affiliate relations there. The rules are very unclear on this.

But perhaps the rules have nothing to do with this...because they focus a lot on paid reviews, and those using testimonies. The rules are quite clear on how to disclose a paid review...it has to be done within each review. Also they are clear on how to use testimonies and disclaimers...stating that they will have to be specific and give a general impression on the consumer.

So perhaps those are the only two major focuses of where they expect to see some change? At this point what I will do is create a disclosure page, and if I see others labeling each affiliate link, then maybe I'll follow suit, but for now I think that is just silly.

How To Thank Those Who Link To You Without Doing a Link Exchange

When someone links to one of my sites, this first thing I want to do is link back to them. But I realized that when I do that, any value that is placed on that link by Google will automatically drop, because as soon as I link back, Google sees that as a link exchange.

Link exchanges are not bad to help increase the traffic to your site, but they will not help you in the search engine rankings.

I thought of a great way to return the favor...and I'm sure I'm not the first one to think about this, but I think it is a great idea!

With all the social media, and social networking sites there are plenty of ways to return the favor and send some traffic to the sites that link to you. Another thing that you can do, is blog about the other site, or add a link back from your blog. This way, they are getting traffic which they otherwise would not get, and the link on their site back to yours will be valued in the eyes of Google.

Google Adsense

Google Adsense is a great way to earn extra money online. Some people even make a living with just Adsense! You can always count on Adsense to be there to help you along when all else fails.

But as good as it is it can be a hindrance to a new site. When you have Adsense on your blog or website the Google search engine will take longer to index your site as when you don’t have Adsense. So it’s a good idea to put up your site, wait till you’re ranked by Google and then put up those wonderful ads.

A lot of people like to just put up a site and stick Google ads on there and Google doesn’t like that. The ultimate goal of Google is to send people to reliable websites which will help them find what they are looking for. If Google senses that you only have ads or that your content is not rich it will not send visitors.

So the key is to be patient and fill your site with valuable content before putting up any ads.

E-Books

E-books have become increasingly popular overtime and are in my opinion the easiest and cheapest way to deliver or receive information.

I love them because I can read them online without having to leave my home to go to the bookstore or library. Plus they are environmentally friendly and save a lot of trees.

E-books have eliminated the barrier between the author and publisher. Since e-books are so cheap and easy to create, anyone can do it and you don't need anyone else's permission to publish it. If you have an e-book that you want to write, there is nothing stopping you anymore...you are the master of your universe.

You can write them for fun or for money, and you can write about anything that you want. You can entertain, inform or instruct, and people will love and thank you for it.

You can buy expensive software to help you to create these books or you can download a free program called OpenOffice and it allows you to create professional looking e-books with pictures, hyperlinks and more.

How Not to Get Scammed

As you probably already know there are many, many scams online today, and it's hard sometimes just by looking at the claim to distinguish whether its a scam or something legitimate. But if you educate yourself a little, you don't have to be a victim to any of these.

Rule #1 is to never, never rush into anything! If its legitimate, it'll still be there waiting for you tomorrow, or the day after, or a week after. Many scammers will use the time is running out tactic to get people to sign up. This is very clever because no one has the time to do a thorough search before the time runs out on whatever scam they're pulling.

Every legit business should have a phone number where you can reach them at. Call this number and see if anyone picks up. If there is someone there have them explain to you how the system works, and ask any questions you may have. If there is no number or no one picks up when you call, then you can be most certain that it is not legitimate.

You always want to ask around. Poke around in marketing forums, or google the keywords used in the title of the opportunity. You'd be surprised at how many honest people there are who will tell you the truth. If it's a scam, someone out there who has been scammed will be more than happy to prevent others from being scammed.

Last but not least, keep in mind that what worked for one person may not work for you and vice versa. Read other people's success stories and find out how the system worked for them. That will give you an idea on whether it will be something that you will enjoy doing, or whether you will succeed as well.

So really it boils down to two things, do your research and then use your common sense to see whether it is something you want to do.

Make a Living Doing What You Love

John Chow is a famous blogger. This is how he makes his living. When he started out he wasn't in it for the money at all. He just wanted to keep an online journal where he could talk about whatever.

Today he's making a living doing what he loves to do...and a fine living I might add. Personally I think it should be everyones goal to make a living doing what we love.

Now some may ask if we all did what we loved would the world still go around? I say "Of course it would!" There are millions of different people all over the world and they all have different interests. I have a friend who loves working in a factory and she will never quit till the day she retires. I've said many times to her, "There has to be something that you'd rather be doing." And she simply says she can't think of anything else.

Another friend loves to clean and cleans for other people...think about it...she loves to scrub toilets for other people! YUCK!!!! Okay maybe she doesn't care for the toilets, but she's a very social person and this gives her a flexible schedule to come and go as she pleases, and she loves it.

Still other people I know love construction. I know one guy who loves the thrill of working on trusses...it's a dangerous job but he loves it.

So how do you go about making a living doing what you love? It may be easier said than done, but just do it. The internet has made a way for anyone in any niche to make a living online. Honest, it doesn't matter what it is you love to do, there is a market for it online.

If you like construction...start a blog and start writing about it. Share with people what it's like from day to day in the construction world. Then learn to monetize your site with relevant affiliate links or ads. This method can work in any niche that you have an interest in.

Obviously it won't happen overnight, but if you work hard and stick it out it will work. I'm still fairly new to the internet but I got my first paycheck from google about a month ago. I'm still not making my living doing what I love, but I'm well on my way. I encourage you to do the same.

The Power Of Intention

I just watched the most amazing video called "The Power of Intention" by Dr Wayne Dyer. While I may not agree with everything which he says, I do believe that he has a lot of valuable information which I believe we can all benefit from.

He talks about a source (which I believe is God) but he says it can be anything which you believe it is. The source walks beside us and helps us and is always on our side. And if we work together with this source we can do just about anything we intend to do.

Everything was intended, even things which we don't like, and we need to become one with the source and accept everything from a positive perspective and work with the source...not against it.

All the problems which we face are within us...whether it be with people, our job, or any situation which may arise. We have the power within us to solve the problem whether we believe it or not. We can't expect people or situations to change around us...but we need to change from within.

If you're in a financial rut, you need to focus on your positive intentions to get out of it and it will happen. It almost sounds like magic but really its not. How it works is that if you focus on a positive outcome in any sticky situation...your actions will be positive and productive and eventually you will work your way out of that situation.

I would really encourage you to watch this video even if you don't agree with everything he says...I truly believe it can change your life if you adapt to some of his strategies.

What You Should Know Before Buying a Web-Hosting Plan

If you're planning on purchasing a web-hosting account there's a few things you should know before you actually make the purchase. Go ahead and get your domain name before its gone, but hold off just a little on the hosting...unless you know and understand what it is all about.

When I purchased my hosting account I had no idea what it was all about! I managed to figure it out...and still figuring stuff out...but I had days when I just wanted to pull out my hair.

The biggest stress factor was that I had made the purchase with money which I didn't have and now I had no idea how to set it up. I was in a hurry to get it up and going, because I was already paying for it, so naturally I want to get the most for my hard-earned $$$. Because I was in such a hurry I didn't take the time to fully read the owners manual; had I done so I would have saved a lot of time.

But not just that...when I finally dove in it was like an information overload. Here I was over at www.w3schools.com learning html and css. When I got tired of reading I went over to youtube.com to learn in a more relaxed fashion which also allowed me to do other things in between, thus saving me some time.

I learned the most from Asib12, he deserves a pat on the back for creating such wonderful step-by-step tutorials. He shows you from the very basic html coding to css, javascript and even shows you how to set up a website from scratch.

So what exactly is it that you should know before buying a web-hosting plan?

Simple, head over to www.w3schools.com and start studying the free tutorials. Start with the basic html tutorials and work your way up to xml, css, javascript and more! You will find tutorials on every kind of coding which you'll need to set up you site. What I like most about learning at w3schools is the try it yourself editor in which you can put what you have learned to test. Plus at the end of each tutorial you have to option to quiz yourself to see how you're doing.

Next I would also recommend you watch the videos done by Asib12, this isn't necessary, but it does help to better understand when you actually see someone doing it.

Once you have the basics down, you should start planning your site and creating files or pages for your site and saving them in a new folder. Then as you learn more you can add more to each file or page and you don't need any expensive web page editor. All this can be done in note-pad!

Once you are confident that you have mastered the basics you can go ahead and get your web-hosting. I went with godaddy simply because I had heard a lot of good things about them, and they have proven themselves to be a leader in providing reliable and affordable webhosting.

I purchased both my domain and webhosting with them and thus far I am very satisfied with their services. After I had made the purchase they sent a link via e-mail to an e-book which has all the information you need to help you get started. (But you have to read it to benefit from it! lol)

I have also called in several times to ask questions which I should have figured out on my own, but they were more than willing to help me with my problems. They have a 24/7 support line, so you're never alone when help is needed!

It may seem a little scary and overwhelming, but once you have the basics down, although it does get complicated, anyone can learn and set up a web-site from scratch.

Learn To Make Your First Dollar Online!

So I haven't been writing for a while...mainly due to the fact that I've been learning a lot about making money online.

I took the 30Day Challenge with Ed Dale back in August and I have to say it is the best thing I have ever done! I learned so much and the best thing is it's all free and he shows you step by step!

It's a course designed for the complete newbie. He teaches how to do market research, how to set up your own blog, how to get back links to your site and many other techniques.

Ed's goal is to help you make your first dollar online, and thus far I have made $76.00. Okay I know that isn't a lot. As a matter of fact it's not even enough to pay for my phone and internet connection, but here's the deal: In the first month I made like 2 bucks, the second month $10.00, in the third month I made just over $20.00 and the fourth month I made just over $30.00.

Once you've registered with a few advertisers and you've got some content on your blog, you want to start promoting your blog and attracting people to it.

There's many ways to do this but the most fun way is called Social Networking. What you do is you simply register with as many social network sites as you want, and link them back to your blog. Once you have your profile set up, just start inviting people to be your friend. They will then view your profile and hopefully follow your links to your blog, and again hopefully click on your links.

Here are just a few examples of all the sites that are out there.

Yuwie is one of the best new sites out there! They actually pay you just for blogging, getting page views and referring others to the site. Click Here to find out more!

You've probably already heard of MySpace, Facebook, and Flickr; these are all great sites to register with.

You should also create a Squidoo lens. This is also a really great site on which you can earn money on. I would recommend that you also link your social networking sites to your Squidoo.

And then there's Twitter...some people would say it's a waste of time but others love it. This site is a little different in the sense that you continuously update what you’re doing, and then your followers can always know what you’re up to. You can also follow others and know what they are up to as well.

Another great site is YouTube! This site can get you a lot of traffic to your blog if you put up some videos in relation to your blog. So check them out and find out which ones you like, you don’t have to join all of them; just join the ones that you like.

Give it time, as you build your friends lists, your traffic will start to increase.

Amazon offers a very good program which is free to join. They have a wide variety of products ranging from books to electronics and much more.

What I like about Amazon is the various different methods you can take in their program. They give you a variety of links and banner ads which you can use and at the same time they’ll allow you to open up to 100 stores at no cost to you. I recommend that you experiment with these banners and links to see which ones work best.

When you open an Amazon store just follow the step by step instructions, it's not hard to set it up. At the end it will give you a code which you can embed into your website. If you don't have a site, don't worry, just forget about the code for now and grab the link with your affiliate ID and paste it into your blog. Anyone who clicks on that link will be directed to your store just as you designed it. The only downfall is that your affiliate link is visible in the address bar, which doesn't look very neat...but it shouldn't stop people from buying from your store.

If you want to get your own website to host your store, you can do so at fairly good prices. Bluehost or PowWeb will provide you with good services along with low prices. There's also Yahoo, Hostgater, and Hostmonster. Check them out and see which one you like.

Commission Junction is a HUGE asset to affiliate marketers. They provide you with a humongous amount of different companies with affiliate programs that you can join.
It doesn’t matter what your niche is, I’m 99.9% positive you will find companies which will provide you with affiliate links appropriate for your niche.

First you have to register as a publisher with Commission Junction. Fill out everything they require you to fill out, and then once you’re done, you can start applying to as many affiliate programs as you like.

Once registration is done, all you do is click on the “Get Links” tab on the top of your page; then you’ll see categories for just about any market out there. Each category has multiple companies listed with affiliate programs which you can apply to.

This is a very simple process because Commission Junction already has all your contact information which is forwarded automatically to any program which you apply to. The company then will either automatically approve your application; and you will see that screen pop up as soon as your accepted; or they will do it manually which could take a few days, and they will let you know by e-mail once you have been approved.

To get your advertising links, click on the 'View Links' link right beside the advertiser's name. Here you will see a variety of banner ads or text links provided by the advertiser. On the right-hand side, under the 'Get Links' column, you'll see that you have two choices: you can either get the Javascript, or the html code. It doesn't really matter which one you get...Blogger will accept both.

Now it's very simple to keep track of which programs you applied to, which ones you've been accepted to, and which ones you're waiting to be accepted by. In the “Get Links” area you'll see four tabs underneath the “Get Links” tab. One of them is “By Relationship”. If you click on that you'll see a list of all your advertisers that have accepted you.
